I wish I was back in college so I could try that "I may not answer the way you want" approach to test taking.

Actually, I DID do that once on a test (a test about the powers of the presidency, actually -- I'd only memorized three out of five, so I spun the essay answer to talk about how these other three were way more important than the one the question asked about), but, you know... a) I was ON TOPIC, and b) I'm not running for vice president.

Over at The Edge of the American West they suggest her performance is like a student trying to bluff her way through a test after cramming for it right before it started. They have up a portion of one of her replies and it just is lacking in any substance and is just packed with buzz words in no particular order.

(As an aside, I want to find the person who decided to inject "toxic" into the recent financial discussions and just hit him or her about the head with a rolled up newspaper.)

I do hear people talking like that, but as you say, they're not running for vice president.

I think EVERYONE did that in college. On occasion we'd even get partial credit, so it was worth a try.

LOL: ignoring the question

I actually did that on one question of the comprehensive exam I had to take to get my grad degree! It was the last question of an eight hour test. The question made me furious and I used it as a chance to bemoan the lack of female and minority authors on the forty book reading list the test was based on. Fortunately the professors grading me felt that my answer was "in the ballpark" enough to count. To tell you the truth, I think they cut me slack because I was right about the crappy book list. :-)
